URGENT CARE

IN CASE OF EMERGENCY In case of severe pain or a threat to life or limb, CALL 911 or proceed directly to an Emergency Department. WHAT IS URGENT CARE? Sometimes a symptom or medical problem may not be a true emergency, but it is uncomfortable or serious enough to require same-day evaluation or treatment. If this is the situation, you have several options to receive urgent medical care. Please note that unlike the ER, urgent care visits sometimes require a phone call to make an appointment. Urgent care visits are also billed differently than regular visits, so you may want to contact your insurance company to check your policy. DURING BUSINESS HOURS If it is during business hours, always call your primary care physician first. Along with regularly-scheduled appointments, some clinics (including Fruita Family Medicine, PLLC) have a number of same-day appointments set aside for urgent issues. AFTER-HOURS OPTIONS If your doctor's office is closed, the following after-hours clinics may be an option. Please note that some clinics require a call or referral from your primary care physician. Some clinics may also have a triage nurse to talk to. Every practice works a little differently and has a different call system. At Fruita Family Medicine, PLLC, you may call the main number (970-858-6677) and if the office is closed, you will have the option to call the "On Call" doctor. Please be ready to leave your full name (with spelling of your last name) and date of birth on the call line, and your call will be answered by Dr. Rimmey or Dr. Gao, or on some weekends you may be contacted by a physician from Juniper Family Medicine (Dr. Campbell, Dr. Nederveld, or Dr. Pierce). NARCOTICS Click here to view a copy of our clinic narcotic policy: FFM Narcotic Policy HOSPITALIZATION Our doctors have staff privileges at St. Mary's Hospital, Community Hospital, and Family Health West Hospital, although all non-newborn inpatient hospital care is covered by hospitalist (hospital-specialty) teams at St. Mary's Hospital and Community Hospital, who communicate directly with Dr. Gao and Dr. Rimmey regarding inpatient admissions so records and care are coordinated. Routine newborn baby care is still directly managed by Dr. Gao and Dr. Rimmey themselves at St. Mary's.
